FREDRIC R. BRANDFON was born in Brooklyn, New York,
on December 3, 1948. He was admitted to the bar in 1991 in California,
and is also licensed to practice before the United States District Court
for the Central and Southern Districts of California.
Mr. Brandfon received his B.A. cum laude from Wesleyan University in
Middletown, Connecticut in 1970, an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania
in 1971 and his Ph. D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania
in 1983. He received his J.D. in 1991 from the University of California
at Los Angeles School of Law, where he served as a member and editor
of the UCLA Law Review. While a member of the UCLA Law Review he published
a Comment, Traditional and Judicial Review in the American Indian Tribal
Court System, 38 UCLA Law Review 991 (1991). He also served as a Judicial
Extern to the Honorable Calvin Ashland, United States Bankruptcy Judge
in 1990. Presently he is a member of the Litigation Section of the State
Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Brandfon
specializes in the following practice areas, among others: business
and commercial litigation; labor and employment disputes; bankruptcy;
trademark and copyright litigation; real estate; securities litigation;
and partnership and corporate disputes.
Before entering law school in 1988, Mr. Brandfon was a Professor of
History of Religion at the University of South Carolina, College of
Charleston, in Charleston, South Carolina. He directed excavations at
Tel Beer-Sheba, Tel Michal and Tel Gerisa in Israel. He is the author
of scholarly articles and excavation reports concerning archaeology
in the Near East, and also serves as the Executive Director of the excavations
at Jaffa, Israel.
