Mark Linder is “of counsel” to Hamburg, Karic, Edwards & Martin LLP, having joined the firm in 1998. Prior to that Mark was the managing partner of a 20-person law firm in Century City, where he started as a law clerk and spent the first 17 years of his career.
Mark began practicing law as a business litigator, specializing in real estate litigation on behalf of entrepreneurial clients. In approximately 1993, Mark began representing clients on their commercial real estate acquisitions, financing and sales transactions, including a small privately held real estate investment firm. For approximately the past 10 years Mark’s practice has exclusively focused upon real estate transactional matters, primarily as a result of his formerly small, privately held investment firm client growing to a company with over a $1 Billion Dollar commercial real estate portfolio.
Mark’s background as a business major during his undergraduate years, combined with his experience as a business litigator, taught him to place a premium on clear and concise draftsmanship. His skills as an advocate in the litigation arena converted seamlessly to the transaction negotiation process, although he is much more at home in the less adversarial world of transactions. Mark’s goal is to aggressively pursue the best possible documentation and outcome for his clients, while at the same time not alienating the other side by over-lawyering the transaction.
Mark has been a long-time supporter of the Harmony Project, a charitable organization bringing musical training to socially and financially disadvantaged youth in the Los Angeles area. When not working, Mark loves traveling with his wife Barbara, and on occasion with his adult children, both locally and internationally. He is also a frustrated, but ever optimistic golfer.
