Mr. Karic is a name partner of the firm, specializing in business, real estate and construction litigation, law and disputes, alternative dispute resolution, trials and appeals. He has been practicing law for over 36 years, having first been admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1982 and then the California Bar in 1985.  Before joining the firm as a partner in 2003, Mr. Karic was a shareholder (partner) and member of the board of directors of the national law firm of Buchalter Nemer in its Los Angeles office. Later, Mr. Karic founded and managed the downtown Los Angeles law firm of Brookwell Karic (from 1994 to 2003, at which time he merged his office with firm).

As lead counsel, Mr. Karic assists clients to resolve disputes that range from the most complex commercial transactions to relatively straightforward business deals. He regularly appears before state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout California and elsewhere, as well as alternative dispute resolution tribunals, such as the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, ADR Services, FINRA (formerly NASD) and various regulatory bodies. He has successfully resolved and tried numerous cases to verdict and judgment and binding arbitration award, and has protected his trial and arbitration results on appeal in both state and federal appellate courts.

Mr. Karic was born in Brooklyn, New York and settled in Los Angeles, California in 1985. He is married, has three adult daughters (two of whom are married) and lives in the historically preserved Los Angeles neighborhood of Hancock Park and Windsor Square.

  • Globalist Internet Technologies, Inc. v. Reda, 167 Cal. App. 4th 1267 (2008), case of first impression, upholding right of clients to recover attorney fees in post-judgment enforcement proceedings
  • Limited Liability Company Management Dispute, nullified and voided attempt by members to remove Manager in violation of Operating Agreement
  • Sports Marketing, Agency and Endorsement Dispute, represented NBA athlete in ensuring agent complied with California’s Miller-Ayala Act protecting athletes
  • Real Estate Disputes, represented national real estate brokerage in litigation over numerous sale and lease transactions and disputes, including recovery of disputed brokerage commissions
  • Fair Market Value Rent determination trial upon exercise of option to renew multi-tenant, multi-use commercial historic buildings in downtown Los Angeles, saving client tens of millions of dollars in rent
  • Construction Dispute, obtained judgment against roofing contractor and owner for negligent work causing fire and destroying historic place of worship
  • Hotel Disputes, represented publicly traded REIT in numerous billboard advertising and defective construction disputes
